571 Improving Outcomes for Mandated Clients
Registration Open
The Addiction Technology Transfer Center of New England , funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) at Brown University Center for Alcohol & Addiction Studies, is offering a credited, on-line course on improving outcomes for mandated clients.
Mandated clients make up a huge percentage of substance abuse treatment patients. Even those not formally mandated to treatment by a Court may be “mandated” by an EAP, parents, a spouse, or social services. When these “involuntary” clients are treated as if they are motivated for a complete change in lifestyle, the result is usually relapse-both to the drug of choice and the criminal lifestyle.
Goal: Improving Outcomes for Mandated Clients will offer practical advice that can be put to immediate use by counselors and clinicians to improve retention, graduation, and relapse rates.
