Course Description:

A highly successful treatment approach developed by Drs. William Miller and Steven Rollnick, Motivational Interviewing (MI), is a person centered, guiding method of communication to elicit and strengthen motivation for change. This introductory course will provide the individual with an understanding of what MI is and what it is not, a true appreciation for the spirit of MI, an empathic understanding of how people change and provide instruction and practice on the fundamental skills necessary to use this style of communication. The discussion material and information will be given via a class webpage, including video, and a bulletin board.

This four week course requires 8 hours of work over its duration.
